Quality Assurance Manager
Location North Carolina.
Purpose
The Quality Manager’s purpose is to support the company mission and policies and to ensure process and product compliance and improvement.
Reports to: Corporate CEO
Position Summary
The Quality Manager is a senior staff member who uses department and company resources to compile and share information with process owners for their use in evaluating and improving their processes. The quality manager also works directly with the ISO registrar, customers, and the FAA to ensure compliance with their requirements.
Accountabilities
Strategic
- For the quality management system meeting process, product, customer, and regulatory agency requirements
- For creating quality plans that meet customer’s needs.
Administrative
- The accuracy and timeliness of quality reporting, testing and improvements.
- The allocation of the resources required to execute quality inspection and testing and to maintain the quality management system
- The success of operator training.
Responsibilities
- Establishing procedures and metrics for and engaging the operation in continual improvement.
- Serving as the point of contact and company lead for customers, ISO and FAA inspectors, and auditors.
- Executing and supervising internal and external audits
- Providing quality performance data and analysis to shop floor and senior management employees – using the data to drive the continual improvement efforts.
- Developing a strategic quality improvement plan and engaging all employees in quality improvement activities.
- Participating in the product development and quoting process to ensure adequate quality gauging and control plans are considered in the quote.
- Managing the department personnel and equipment needs.
- Driving the corrective action process to ensure the short-term issue is fixed and also drive long-term systemic improvement – holding people accountable.
- Providing training in quality systems for new and existing employees.
- Overseeing day-to-day quality issues and taking the appropriate corrective actions.
- Developing and implementing process control methods to improve capability.
- Controlling non-conforming product.
- Representing the company to interested parties.
- Developing and implementing process control methods.
- Monitoring quality metrics for raw material suppliers.
- Communicating relevant information and data to process owners and customers.
- Organizing, leading, and finalizing management reviews.
- Creating and improving incoming, in-process, and final inspection processes and procedures which verify product quality compliance.
- Compiling and managing company training procedures.
- Communicating and resolving quality issues with customers and suppliers.

Knowledge, skills, competencies, experience
- A strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015, FAA, PIA, ASTM, and other industry standards; AS9100 experience preferred.
- Experience with calibration, inspection methods, blueprint reading, statistics, quality charting, and process capability.
- Experience with ISO, FAA, and customer audits.
- Experience managing direct reports.
- Ability to develop long-range plans, budgets, personnel, and capital needs.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Fluent in the English language. Bi-lingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
Proficient in MS Office, SharePoint, and ERP systems.
