QUALITY INSPECTOR

Location North Carolina.

Purpose 

The purpose of the Quality Inspector is to confirm that all materials, products, and processes conform to the customer, company, and industry standards. 

Position Summary 

The Quality Inspector works with minimal supervision and inspects incoming materials, works in process, and final products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications, and records and processes all test data. May perform other tasks as directed by management.   

Reports to: Quality Manager 

Accountabilities 

The inspector is accountable for following procedures and for the accuracy and reporting of his/her own work. 

Responsibilities 

  • Examines materials and products for deviations from standards by using visual inspection, measuring devices, gauges, and testing equipment. 
  • Approves or rejects raw materials and products for defects in materials and workmanship in all phases of manufacturing using blueprints or drawings, specifications, and standards. 
  • Records and processes inspection results and test data.  
  • Documents and removes from use all products and materials that fail to meet specifications. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Knowledge, skills, competencies 

  • Ability to read measuring devices, blueprints or drawings, specifications, and standards.  
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100.  
  • Ability to read and write English. 
  • English/Spanish bi-lingual is a plus. 
  • Computer skills are a plus. 
  • Detail-oriented. 

 

Education and experience: 

  • High School graduate or GED required. 
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.  
  • Experience in quality control and/or quality inspection preferred. 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Standing and/or walking for the entire shift  
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
